SWOPLA is hiring a Grant Writing Specialist to support our internal grant-writing needs. The Grant Writing Specialist would work closely with our Fundraiser, Steering Committee members, and team leads to help coordinate and prepare grant proposals. To a lesser extent, the Grant Writing Specialist would also assist from time to time with grant reporting and identifying future grant application opportunities.
The Grant Writing Specialist’s primary role will be to support the relevant member of leadership on specific grant applications, as requested and based on the Grant Writing Specialist’s availability. Equally importantly the Grant Writing Specialist will track each of our grants that we are currently seeking or are reporting on. For this role, we are seeking a good writer and editor, who is well-organized enough to track multiple applications and reporting requirements at once, that also works well in one-on-one and small group settings. Likewise, the Grant Writing Specialist will be assisting program leads who are not experts in grant writing, so skills in teaching others will be helpful.
Requirements:
- Experience writing grant applications or proposals
- Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent editing and writing skills
- Excellent communications skills
- Experience in creating, analyzing, and/or implementing a budget for a grant application or proposal
- Around 10 hours of availability per-month to dedicate to the role (although this can go up and down if the average is consistent)
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience writing grant applications or proposals for California state or local government agencies as well as for private foundations
- Experience writing grant applications or proposals specifically focused on public health, social justice or political advocacy, and/or arts and media.
- Experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, workshop-facilitating or similar experience taking lead in helping others learn
- Some familiarity with SWOPLA’s organization, structure, and/or services
- Lived experience in the sex trade
- Experience or familiarity with 501(c)(3) non profit tax preparation requirements
- Relevant degrees or certifications will be considered – but are not required!
Deadline to Apply: July 24, 11:59pm PT
