Black History Month: Gloria Lockett

This Black History Month, we honor those who have paved the way for empowerment and autonomy in the SW community. SWOPLA recognizes that many of the rights and privileges workers enjoy today are built on the tireless efforts, resilience, and unwavering advocacy of Black femmes, trans women, and gender non-conforming individuals.

Throughout history, it has been Black women and femmes—especially Black trans women—who have been at the forefront of challenging the stigmas, legal systems, and societal prejudices that have marginalized workers. Their struggles, victories, and leadership have laid the foundation for the freedoms and protections many of us benefit from today.

As we celebrate Black History Month, we honor the profound contributions of Black SW3rs and activists, acknowledging their role not just in the fight for racial justice, but in the ongoing fight for worker rights, safety, and dignity.

Today, we are celebrating Gloria Lockett of @cal.pep!
