Mara (they/them) is a queer artist, imaginatrix and community organizer born and raised by the mangroves in Miami. For over a dozen years, they have lived and loved on Tongva land in East Los Angeles. They focus on popular education, pleasure activism, land rematriation and DIY mental health. A clinician and grassroots TJ practitioner, they have studied curanderismo, relationship to plant(cetors) and circle keeping across borders, bringing a decolonial and Indigenous-centered practice to peer support. Mara believes that sitting in circle guides us towards unlocking our own power, fueling collective dreaming, and pushing us towards freedom.
